Occupational Therapists are experts in helping to maximize a client’s daily functioning. 

At Enhance Ability, we provider Occupational Therapy services for adults and seniors. Our clients are living in long term care homes or with support in their communities. We value a team-based approach with the client and their goals within the center of that team. 

Our Occupational Therapy services include:

  • Seating assessments including manual and tilt wheelchairs

  • Pressure reduction assessment including pressure reduction mattresses and management of wound care

  • Power wheelchair assessments and training

  • Adaptive equipment prescription and training

  • Cognitive assessments and cognitive stimulation

  • Cognitive rehabilitation including cognitive return to work

  • Fatigue management for Neurological clients

  • Activities of daily living (ADL) training and restoration

  • Instrumental activities of daily living (IADL) training and restoration

Physiotherapy Services

Registered Dietitian Services

Physiotherapists are health care professional experts who assist individuals to improve and maintain mobility, balance, function and physical well-being.

At Enhance Ability, Physiotherapy services for individuals living in private or public long-term care facilities are readily provided. A collaborative, team-based approach is utilized with each individual resident where customized goals are at the centre of the support plan and provision of care.

Our Physiotherapy services include:

  • In-depth physical mobility assessments, evaluation of range of motion and strength, posture, gait, balance/coordination, functional transfers and movement.

  • Mobility and gait training including assistance with functional transfers, bed mobility, and safe use of a variety of mobility aids such as canes and walkers.

  • Balance training with tailored interventions to increase stability and self-assurance in ambulation.

  • Falls risk assessment and prevention planning including resident-specific strategies to decrease risk of falling and improve safety.

  • Therapeutic exercise prescription and progression including individualized exercise programs for enhancing strength, flexibility, endurance and functional capacity.

  • Applicable manual therapy interventions including soft tissue techniques, joint mobilizations, and physical techniques to support mobility and decrease pain.

  • Pain management tactics including education, self-management and validated strategies to promote comfort and support functional capacity.

  • Post-surgical and post-injury therapeutic intervention via personalized care plans for supportive recovery and return to valuable activity.

  • Respiratory techniques and education to promote secretion clearance, optimal breathing, and respiratory function.

  • Consistent education and guidance for residents, caregivers, and facility staff on safe movement, ideal ergonomic alignment and positioning, injury prevention and energy conservation.

Registered Dietitians are the experts in nutrition and play an important role in healthcare settings by implementing nutrition care plans to address a variety of health conditions and optimize a person’s nutritional status and quality of life.

At Enhance Ability, we provide Registered Dietitian services for adults and seniors. Our clients are living in long term care homes or with support in their communities. We value a team-based approach with the client and their goals within the center of that team.

Our Registered Dietitian Services include:

  • Reviewing therapeutic and modified diets and conducting patient / family interviews

  • using diet histories and calorie counts to establish nutrition care plan

  • Conducting nutrition assessments on seniors and formulating and implementing

  • nutrition care plans appropriate to meet their needs

  • Reviewing laboratory values, monthly weights and diagnostic tests to formulate

  • appropriate nutrition recommendations

  • Calculating energy and fluid requirements to ensure nutritional needs and

  • hydration status are being met

  • Calculating tube feedings and making adjustments based on clinical and nutritional

  • status

  • Prescribing oral supplementation as required and determining amount required

  • based on weight, oral intake, nutrition and medical status

  • Ensuring nutritional needs are met in residents. Attending meal observations to better

  • assess oral intake

  • Determining nutrition requirements for management and prevention of wounds

  • Completing comprehensive nutrition reviews for family conferences and

  • meeting with families as needed

  • Providing nutrition education to residents, staff and families
